What We Do
Research Seminar
We have organized two types of research seminars. The first is brownbag presentations by junior scholars and PhD students, who receive feedback from a paired discussant and other participants. The other type is by more established scholars, from whom we learn about the frontier of research areas and methods. We aim to make the research seminars opportunities to share ideas, disseminate research findings, and develop professional network among Chinese education researchers.
Professional Development
At the CEFP, we are dedicated to helping Chinese education researchers to build a successful career. We have invited speakers to share their experiences on a broad range of topics such as journal submissions, research, job market in and outside of academia, and funding/scholarship applications. Besides CEFP professional development workshops, we also collaborate with other organizations in sharing job-related information.
Networking
CEFP provides unique networking opportunities for Chinese scholars both formally and informally. We maintain one of the largest active Wechat groups for Chinese education researchers in North America. Group members discuss recent research and share job opportunities. At the end of each virtual seminar, we also hold a happy hour session, where participants meet others. We plan to organize in-person meetings during conferences, such as AEFP, AERA, and APPAM.
